JASMINE CROSBY, OWNER AND TEACHER:

Hi! My name is Jasmine Crosby and I am excited to welcome you to The Dance Garden. I have been teaching creative dance for nearly 20 years. For many years, I taught for the Tanner Dance Program at the University of Utah in their studio program, arts-in-education program, and their professional children’s company, Children’s Dance Theatre. I absolutely believe Virginia Tanner’s mission to “not only develop excellent dancers, but more importantly, develop young people who are useful, imaginative, worthwhile human beings.” I have been inspired by Miss Virginia, and those who have followed in her footsteps, to bring “an added measure of beauty into the life of a child” through dance.

I grew up dancing at Southwest Dance Theater, in St. George, UT under the direction of Candy Fowler-a student of Virginia Tanner, who brought Miss Virginia’s beautiful philosophy of children’s dance to Southern Utah. Her studio was a magical place, where the innocence and beauty of childhood were nurtured and celebrated. I flourished there through my childhood and teenage years.

I continued to study dance in college as much as possible, while receiving my Bachelor of Music degree from Dixie State (at the time) and Weber State Universities. Over the years, I have sought opportunities to perform and choreograph across the state, to continue my development as a dancer, artist, and teacher.

As a young mother, I wanted my daughters to experience the joy and wonder of creative dance. Our family needs have led us to live in a community far from any of the wonderful creative dance studios in the state, and I felt a pull from within to share the gifts I have been given with my children and my community. And so, The Dance Garden was born.

I believe in the power and purity of creative dance. I love that in creative dance, children dance like children. Their innocence and purity are respected and protected. It is my hope and my desire to provide a space for creative dance in my community, a safe-haven for children to learn and grow as artists and human beings, through the ART of DANCE.

I am on a mission to share the joy and goodness of creative dance with the world, one class, one child at a time. I am so excited for you to become part of our dance family!
